Our lineage
The techniques we train in
have been handed down through a number of
teachers who each studied with
Morihei Ueshiba.

Morihei Ueshiba (December 14,
1883 – April 26, 1969) was a famous martial
artist and founder of the Japanese martial art
of aikido. He is often referred to as "the
founder" Kaiso or Ō-sensei "Great Teacher".

Kazuo Chiba (born February 5,
1940, Tokyo) from Japan spent a considerable part of his teaching
career in the United Kingdom and United States.
He is an 8th dan in the aikido organisation
Aikikai, and founder of dojos in London and San
Diego, California.
Chiba is
sometimes known
as a
representative
of the "hard" or
"tough" side of
aikido, with a
strong emphasis
on weapons
training.

Alan Pirie (5th Dan)
(1927-1995)
"One of the true gentlemen
of the martial art"
Sensei Pirie studied
Aikido under Sensei Chiba who he followed as he
travelled England spreading Aikido in the 1960s. Sadly Sensei
Pirie past away on the 5th
April 1995
Sensei Pirie had by the
time of his untimely death in 1995 trained in
Aikido for over 40 years. He obtaining his 3rd Kyu
from Chiba Sensei in the late 1960's.
